Location: Papakura, New Zealand
Equipment: Bramidan X50 baler and Bramidan low cost B3 baler
Industry: Recycling - Cardboard & Plastic

CHALLENGE

New World Papakura needed to create more space in their already cramped site to fit in a new back-up power supply unit. They had six large waste cages stored on site taking up 16.2 square meters of area. The solution and end product had to fit into the small area. They also wanted to reduce the current two trucks a day collection of their waste cardboard and plastic as this would help reduce the truck congestion in the inwards goods area.

SOLUTION

A-Ward removed the six wire cages from site and replaced them with the Bramidan X50 baler for cardboard waste and the Bramidan low cost B3 baler; which requires only 0.63 m2 of floor space and produces heavy compacted bales that can be stacked on top of each other.

RESULT

With New World Papakura purchasing Bramidan X50 and the B3 balers, an additional 13.8 square meters of warehouse floor space has been created; which was substantial enough to fit their new power supply unit and extra storage room.New World Papakura’s waste truck movements have been reduced to one truck- load per week or a 95% reduction. Therefore truck congestion has been absolutely minimized. Now there is only 2.4 square meters of space being used to stack the plastic and cardboard bales before collection. The staff now recycles more cardboard and plastic as they now load the balers under cover and out of the weather.
