Cardboard – PaknSave Glenn Innes

The Store Manager has stated “The baler is very easy to use and has proved to be very efficient, what’s more is the staff have taken to it very positively and it will pay its self-off in no time”.

Location: Glenn Innes, New Zealand
Equipment: Bramidan X50 baler
Industry: Recycling Industry - Cardboard

CHALLENGE

PAK’nSAVE Glen Innes were using a large compactor which was emptied twice a week. The compactor was a safety issue when being operated. The Operations Manager didn’t want to change, believing that baling cardboard and plastic wouldn’t work and that there would be no savings to them.

SOLUTION

A-Ward recommended PAK’nSAVE Glen Innes Innes to invest in a Bramidan X50 baler for the cardboard waste so their operators could become comfortable using a baler and the Operations Manager could see that baling could be successful.Once this transition has been successful A-Ward would recommend PAK’nSAVE Glen Innes to look at purchasing the B5W baler for their plastic waste in the future.

RESULT

PAK’nSAVE Glen Innes purchased the Bramidan X50 Baler to replace their compactor. The X50 has a pair of proximity switches on the door so the baler only operates when the door is shut. The two button bale ejector operation means nobody can be in front of the baler when a bale is ejected onto the pallet. The X50 bales have increased the value of their waste cardboard by $100 per ton.The Store Manager has stated “The baler is very easy to use and has proved to be very efficient, what’s more is the staff have taken to it very positively and it will pay its self-off in no time”.
