A-Ward’s customer mindset driven to reset transportation operations for the better:

Growing bulk handling profitably past a pandemic.

A-Ward’s bulk handling products have assisted thousands of customers RESET. Our mindset is based on ensuring growth for our international customers to help them realise their potential. We know from the daily positive feedback that A-Wards innovative loaders and unloading products used to transport commodities such as grains, sugar, wheat and coffee beans, have been essential in alleviating business operation stress. Business owners and employees have been through a lot of uncertainty over the past 15 months and are finding reassurance knowing they can operate efficiently and safely within the challenging covid environment and produce better future results than they ever thought possible before Covid.

Organisations and management have faced some difficult strategic decisions. Not since WWII has there been a greater upheaval in the world’s history and the organisation of industry and health. Therefore, today we place the highest priority on our customers. We are regularly across feedback from around the globe and within different industries to ensure we keep up with new developments that ‘fit’ their bulk handling demands.

We know that our customers have and continue to experience emotional and technological transformations through all levels of organisation function, from HR to production. In an international environment like today, problem-solving in order to reset direction has never been more crucial to the continuation of the global community. There has been pain on the journey, but through this we learn more. We see incredibly motivated customers who have battle scars yet carry increased empathy, resilience, tolerance, and determination in resetting and planning their business operations. Our customers trust A-Ward’s history of innovation and proven track record. Our innovative country of origin gives us a ‘New and Zeal’ approach for products to create positive and urgent market change, demonstrating IMMEDIATE AND MEASURABLE RESULTS for operations using A-Ward products.

Future growth mindset

Inefficient and unhygienic, traditional transportation structures that handle commodities no longer have a place in our industrial world. Communities rely on A-Wards bulk handling customers to provide the necessities of life. Thus, the moral obligation by business owners on the direction of operations needs to always think to a future growth mindset that is sustainable and meets regulatory conditions. In embracing technology and transformation through products such as A-Wards bulk handling loaders and unloading systems customers can legitimately claim to tick all the boxes: profitability, health and safety, efficiency and sustainability (such as the removal of 1-ton bags).

Covid related scarcity issues and the natural and geopolitical environment have been both a wake-up call and catalyst. A new revolution is on its way as traditional allegiances and brands die out and being replaced by new, intelligent, clean, and efficient ideas. Companies and organisations will need to build a future with more certainty to live alongside a virus to ensure that scarcity of food products does not need to take a negative spin for producers and consumers. Realising the importance of providing basic commodity needs and securing these for everyone on the planet is an area of focus for the pioneers at A-Ward. With a low emphasis on disposable possessions and a high one on basic needs, urgency in profitable and clean delivery is a priority. Efficient and essential hygienic food handling and transportation solutions offered by A-Ward today can help organisations achieve this quickly and with all the custom assistance they need for implementation. We have assisted customers who needed fewer staff operating machines (due to social distancing) but at the same time required maximum volumes to be transported. Our technology also avoids idling vehicles creating excess Co2, wasted revenue due to single bags, and the mounting costs of equipment.

What Drives Us?

The pressure at times has been too much, and A-Wards families are just like yours; we are human too. Within our customers’ primary operations, family units have been torn apart by illness, death, or geographic separation. Humanity has faced some of the most devastating circumstances, which has left some enduring scars on our psyches. The ‘norm’ is no longer as the increased challenges of operating in a Covid environment shifts how organisations make smart capital choices. Ultimately, it is the human face that drives our decisions in creating the right choice and responding for the better during this pandemic.

We want you to experience what thousands of A-Wards happy customers have already experienced. Like A-Ward, organisations that approach us are usually agile and creative. They thrive by seeking new approaches and products and remain optimistic about positive change within their operations. However, some of them may be a little ZOOM fatigued!

The regulatory environment has never had as much effect on business operations as it does today.

International organizations in the bulk material handling of commodities are approaching a new era of increased uncertainty. Providing new layers of protection that meet the constantly evolving regulatory and stakeholder standards for handling essential resources can be challenging. This has been accentuated due to the covid pandemic and changes to our natural environment. Extra safety demands that regulators have enforced across various industries, from energy producers to food, can be costly.

Firms must output increased labour and time to provide safe infrastructures for employees and, most importantly, food hygiene. This is a difficult ask in the current environment. This, combined with administration to implement solutions, can be expensive as designs and new innovations inserted into an operation need to meet extensive and newly enforced regulatory milestones at each point of the design. All of this before any construction or implementation can get the green light. Consequently, this makes any minor setback or another change in capital, logistics or functional design detrimental to profitable business continuity. It is essential to get it right and plan for organization infrastructure to meet future needs.

Modular designs such as A-Ward’s bulk loaders and unloaders are helping organizations across a range of key resource-intensive industries take the headache out of the time involved in planning and executing individual designs within their operations to meet new regulatory and environmental demands. Solutions for the bulk containerization of commodities such as sugar, grain or plastics have heavily reduced reliance on costly labor and hygiene risks. Added advantages include using technology that has seen thousands of customers remove the use of one-ton bags. Thus safety, profit and sustainable outcomes are equally met.

Firms are on edge from these pressures, and a common reaction is to act reactively. However, always anticipating or ‘best guessing’ future regulatory change outcomes vs a natural solution for the long term is not a good idea today. Firms that are implementing solutions for long term sustainable outcomes to meet regulation, drive down costs and increase safety are the future firms. A-Ward has innovated a range of products that have revolutionized the bulk handling industry, taking away much of the ‘on the spot’ and costly internal innovation to anticipate future regulatory changes.

Steve Jobs vision captured the essence of what was to become a technological explosion of innovation and transformation. Additionally he also showed us what was possible searching outside the box to create change on a global scale.

“The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do.”

We have all heard the expression often after the fact, “it’s too good to be true” or “it’s so simple, why did I not consider this before”? It is easy to get stuck in the familiar or comfort zone to the point where simple possibilities to improve efficiencies become lost opportunities. Ideas for business improvement can get over thought, busy sets in, and sometimes the best and most obvious path forward gets overlooked. The confronting changes in the global environment over 2020 and beyond have forced businesses rapidly out of their comfort zone to embrace new challenges and urgently find solutions. In particular businesses that are encountering supply chain uncertainty with the movement of bulk commodities. Organisations have also had to rethink contamination risk impacts on shutting down their organisations and growing sustainability expectations leading to profit uncertainty. The organisations that have embraced change as an opportunity to reduce uncertainty will sew the seed in a rapidly changing global environment and will emerge leaders in their field.

A-Ward like Mr Jobs are leaders and are playing their part in this changing world. Our revolutionary container tilting technology makes the old, unsustainable and costly way of transporting bulk goods look prehistoric. So we want to help organisations solve their problems while also benefiting our planet. A-Ward’s suite of innovative products ensure the bulk movement of goods remains contamination free and sustainable while greatly increasing return on investment. Yes, it does seem too good to be true, but it really is TRUE. And it is true, that planet earth is benefiting from A-Ward products with a fast growing global customer base that have embraced A-Ward’s vision to keep up with changes in the environment. We all need to play our part to reduce CO2. Businesses that have adopted A-Ward products have been proven track records of achieving this. A-Wards technology to reduce vehicle use and eliminate unsustainable individual bags through single reusable liners within a container, are too good to be true …. But are available right now. For those who stop and embrace the simple.

Sometimes we just over think things, OR perhaps we think it’s too hard to change. A-Ward knows the importance of simple, reliable products that get the job done. But don’t take our word for it, just check in with the thousands of happy customers that have embraced A-Wards patented bulk loading and unloading equipment around the world. They tell us they sleep at night, worry less and feel confident in establishing operations that meet a profitable and sustainable future beyond 2020. The year that will go down in history as establishing the new global business leaders – the ones that changed the world.

“If I asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses” – Henry Ford

Have you ever been asked for a faster horse by some of your customers? Because we have.

One of our customers needed a solution for a very specific problem. They were transporting dry bulk materials from a port to a temporary warehouse located 10 km away using expensive tipping trailers. They quickly realized that this process was creating a lot of dust on the roads, so they invested in tarps to cover the loads. Installing the tarps at the loading point and removing them at the destination resulted in very time consuming and low-value activities. They needed to find a better way to place and remove the tarps from their tipping trailers. Yes, they wanted a faster horse.

After analysing the complete process, the team and I at A-Ward realised that they needed a car not a faster horse.

We suggested the following process, which almost looks too simple:

Step #1: Load the dry bulk material at the port directly into a 20ft container (this is a high-density material)

Step #2: Transport the container to the warehouse using a standard low-cost platform

Step #3: Store the bulk material in the container at the warehouse

Step #4: When needed, transport the container to the final point of use and unload the dry bulk material directly from the container.

The solution

At the loading point: Use an A-Ward 20 ft container tilter with a digital scale to always fill the container at the maximum capacity allowed.

At the point of use: Use an A-Ward container tilter to unload the material directly to the hopper or the transferring system.

As a result, the customer could reduce their logistics costs by 30%, and no horses would be required.

For the past 80 odd years, the logistics industry has largely moved raw materials, goods and essential products in the same way. Either a 20ft or 40ft container, loaded onto a ship and transported to every imaginable destination.

Some of the largest companies and conglomerates are blissfully unaware of the inefficiencies, risk to their workforce , costs, and time lost of the way ‘things have always been done’ . Enter A-Ward, an engineering company founded on the ethos of imagineering, focused on helping companies transform their logistics operation by rethinking the possibilities of the container.

How? We’ve managed to create a solution that allows for 100% utilization of containers, halving the time to load and unload containers, reducing the number of workers exposed to dangerous working conditions and saving hundreds of tons of packaging bags from ending up in landfills and in our oceans. By Simply tilting containers 90 degrees, our loading systems ensure that raw materials are safely , efficiently and economically loaded and unloaded. Without the risk of contamination.

Joulie Groupe in France, which is under contract by one of the largest food producers in the world challenged A-Ward to supply a container loading solution to enable 20ft shipping containers to be loaded with coffee beans.

A-Ward worked closely with French bulk material supplier LC Technologies to provide a complete solution for Joulie Groupe. A-Ward supplied a standard 20ft Flat Deck Frame container loader; which is specifically designed to enable container insertion from above using a forklift, crane or reach stacker.

The results were truly astounding. Joulie Groupe was able to load 22 tons of coffee beans into a 20ft container in 10 minutes.By using a standard A-Ward container loader tilted to 90 degrees, Joulie Groupe is able to load maximum weight containers extremely quickly, eliminate spillage, maximize operator safety with the access ladder and platform and minimize labor involved with the process.

We’ve developed solutions for household brands in various industries through forward thinking and the agility to adapt in an ever-changing world.
