Simon Ward – Managing Director
Simon founded A-Ward back in 2000 and has been the vision and driver of the company since then. His strong passion for research and development and design innovation has excelled A-Ward to become not only a global company but a leader in its field. Simon brings a wealth of practical and theoretical experience to his role and was even named as a finalist for ‘Emerging International Business Leader’ at the 2009 Trade & Enterprise International Business Awards.
Kevin Drinkwater – Board Advisor
Kevin is currently the Chief Information Officer of global logistics company Mainfreight, where he is responsible for the development and application of new IT technology. Kevin has been with Mainfreight for 25 years, previously holding the position of Chief Financial Officer. Kevin’s skill set on the A-Ward Board will assist with the strategic international growth of the company and development of IT solutions to enhance operating efficiencies.
Ian Finch – Board Advisor
Ian is a partner at James & Wells Intellectual Property, and one of New Zealand’s IP specialists. He is also currently Vice President of the New Zealand Institute of Patent Attorneys. Ian contributes to the A-Ward Board his expertise in identifying, capturing and exploiting innovations, and integrating IP into the overall strategy of the business.
Delys Tansley – Board Advisor
Delys is currently the General Manager of Human Resources at global horticulture produce distribution company Turners and Growers with 20 years’ experience in human resources, change management, and IT project implementations under her belt. She is also a business investor known for developing innovative approaches to doing business. Delys brings strong leadership development focus and energy to the A-ward board.
Tim Gordon – Board Advisor
Tim has over 25 years’ experience in the manufacturing industry. His knowledge and experience comes from a career that has spanned the trades, sales and account management through to senior management positions. In his current role as Chief Executive Officer of Steel Pencil he is developing the company into a world-leader in engineering solution documentation.
Eugene Storck – Board Advisor
For over 30 years Eugene was the owner and Governing Director of the largest privately owned scrap metal recycler in New Zealand. Large tonnages of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap were continually processed by various pieces of scrap handling equipment and transported from his yards in containers or by break bulk. Eugene’s extensive knowledge and experience of this specific industry makes him a valued new recruit to the A-Ward Board.
Deborah Ward – Board Advisor
In addition to contributing to the creation and growth of A-Ward with Simon, Deborah also works as Creative Director. Qualified and experienced in business management and photography, the past 15 years has seen Deborah hone and combine her award winning creative skills and business acumen; building up and selling her own successful company whilst currently working on new entrepreneurial opportunities. Deborah brings her passion for management and creative expertise to the table.
